True Demons: The Clown

The first in a new series featuring the true demons of this world. The predators and monsters that inhabit our history and our nightmares.

The first is the clown; forsaken, misunderstood, and lonely. Pushed from society and forced into the shadows, it longs for beauty but can only see it in others. He wears a deceptive mask of paint and color to lure his innocent prey to be taken down into his world, down into the shadows. Once there, it violates this beautiful innocence, simultaniously indulging in it for its beauty and punishing it for having what he can never have. And in that moment he is no longer a monster, no longer a clown. He feels one with this beauty, but only until it fades and becomes another ugly thing in his world and he is forced to hunt for another, to find that beauty again by taking it from someone else.
